Quinceañera at the Adelmann / Boise Quinceañera Photographer

Let me just start by saying I absolutely love The Adelmann building.  I'm a total sucker for old buildings, especially those which still contain some of the original elements of the period in which the building was built.

The Adelmann event center is rich with history.  It has gorgeous wood floors, period style wall paper, velvet drapes dripping with opulence and leather furniture that just begs you to sit and ponder awhile.  Oh, and don't get me started on the turret, Oh how I love a building with a turret.

OK, well I guess it's time to really tell you what this post is about.  It's not about how much I adore the Adelmann.  It's about the fact I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful model at the Adelmann and help this event center promote their facility for more than just weddings.  They are also perfect for Quinceañera's.  I mean honestly, who wouldn't feel like a princess in a venue like this?

Heart Ball 2012 / {Boise Event Photographer}

Saturday February 25th I once again was given the opportunity to photograph the events of the 2012 Heart Ball.  This is just one of many events the American Heart Association puts on to help raise money for medical research and heart healthy education for the public.

The ladies from the local Heart Association office gathered together for a quick group shot.

A heart disease survivor is honored at each heart ball.  This year the honor was given to the Walker family for their amazing journey with the youngest from their bunch.

Regence Blue Shield of Idaho made a generous donation to the American Heart Association.

Baker City, Oregon: Overnight get away / {Baker City Photographer}

In late January my husband and I found some time to get out of Boise and enjoy a little down time.  We wanted to go somewhere within a few hours of Boise, stay in a nice hotel for the evening and just relax.  We decided on Baker City, Oregon.  We'd heard great things about the Geiser Grand Hotel so we made a call and booked the room.

We'd driven through Baker City many times on our way to and from Portland but we never really stopped and looked around.  I fell in love right away.  I love old architecture and this town really has a rich history that is visible at every turn.

Baker City has roughly 100 building on the historical registry.  This is no small feat considering the amount of time, energy, and money it takes to renovate a building while keeping the original character. The dedication of this town's citizens is absolutely amazing.

Our room was stunning; and the restaurant at the hotel was first rate. We will definitely be back.

 The 1889 Saloon located within the Geiser Grand Hotel.

I like to support the local bookshop and this one is just so cute I couldn't resist!

The photo below is actually painted iron.
It's rare to see this kind of detail in new construction.

A little Art Deco added into the Victorian downtown area.

Model Head Shots / {Boise Portrait Photographer}

This young lady is an incredibly sweet and ambitious 12 year old.  She aspires to be a model and is hoping her dream will come true in the very near future.

She came to me a few days ago in need of a new "snapshot" to hand out at her upcoming modeling interview.  Since, it's January and cold outside we arranged to meet each other in the portrait studio to capture some classic head shots.  With the help of her mom we chose a few images which we feel will turn the judges heads.

Good Luck!  I know you'll Knock em' Dead!

Rittenger Family / {Boise Portrait Photographer}

It's not often that a session I shoot is previewed as a "sneak peek" on this blog.  This family is the rare exception.  I actually photographed this family a few days after Thanksgiving.  They had gathered together for an 80th Birthday party and decided it was time to have an updated portrait taken of the clan.

Although this family has already seen and ordered their photos I thought it might be time to reveal the Rittenger Family portrait session to everyone else.

Thanks Rittenger family!  I enjoyed catching up and I'm glad I could capture your family portrait on such a special day.

The makings of my bridal show booth / {Boise Wedding Photographer}

The past four years I have participated in the biggest wedding show in the Treasure Valley .... The Wedding Party Show.  A little over a 100 vendors come together to offer couples a one stop shop for all of their wedding needs.

In past years I've shown photos of my completed space but this year I thought it might be fun to show you what really goes into the production of getting ready for the show.

My husband and I walk into a space like this.
I'm given a 10' x 10' space to work with and just a few tables.

Once we've found my specific space, our first order of business is to unload the truck.    Everything is thrown into a pile in the center of the space.

STEP 1 & 2.
Get the rug down & the walls up.

Alright ... now it's starting to look like something respectable.

 Finally, I space I can call my own!
I really enjoyed talking to all the brides, grooms, and their friends and family this year. Many beautiful couples are about to embark on a wonderful journey. I hope I can help document those early blissful moments for your children and grandchildren to view in the years to come.
