This young lady is an incredibly sweet and ambitious 12 year old. She aspires to be a model and is hoping her dream will come true in the very near future.

She came to me a few days ago in need of a new "snapshot" to hand out at her upcoming modeling interview. Since, it's January and cold outside we arranged to meet each other in the portrait studio to capture some classic head shots. With the help of her mom we chose a few images which we feel will turn the judges heads.

It's not often that a session I shoot is previewed as a "sneak peek" on this blog. This family is the rare exception. I actually photographed this family a few days after Thanksgiving. They had gathered together for an 80th Birthday party and decided it was time to have an updated portrait taken of the clan.

Although this family has already seen and ordered their photos I thought it might be time to reveal the Rittenger Family portrait session to everyone else.

The makings of my bridal show booth / {Boise Wedding Photographer}

The past four years I have participated in the biggest wedding show in the Treasure Valley .... The Wedding Party Show. A little over a 100 vendors come together to offer couples a one stop shop for all of their wedding needs.

In past years I've shown photos of my completed space but this year I thought it might be fun to show you what really goes into the production of getting ready for the show.

My husband and I walk into a space like this.

I'm given a 10' x 10' space to work with and just a few tables.

Once we've found my specific space, our first order of business is to unload the truck. Everything is thrown into a pile in the center of the space.

STEP 1 & 2.

Get the rug down & the walls up.

Alright ... now it's starting to look like something respectable.

Finally, I space I can call my own!

I really enjoyed talking to all the brides, grooms, and their friends and family this year. Many beautiful couples are about to embark on a wonderful journey. I hope I can help document those early blissful moments for your children and grandchildren to view in the years to come.

You may recognize this couple if you are a frequent reader of the Leap Photography blog. It's because this couple was featured in one of the wedding blogs a few years ago. Chris and Belinda were married in June of 2009 and I was there with camera in hand capturing the moments of their special day.

Although we captured a family portrait or two on the day of the wedding, Belinda decided it was time for an updated family portrait. A new baby will be arriving in January so sooner sounded better than later.

Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser {Boise Event Photographer}

Last week I had the pleasure of being involved with the Treasure Valley's first ever Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser. This little known disease affects more people than most of us know and the CF Foundation helps families in need by putting funds towards the search for a cure.

The evening started out with a happy hour. Appetizers and wine were offered to attendees. An award ceremony followed, highlighting the seven ladies who took a challenge to gather $2500 each in donations for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In addition guests participated in both a silent and live auction and heard from a few keynote speakers.

These awards were given to the seven ladies who generously helped raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The 2011 Boise Go Red For Women Luncheon took place on November 4th 2011 in downtown Boise. This event focus's on heart disease in women along with it's signs and symptom.

Heart disease and strokes affect men and women of all ages but the luncheon focuses on educating women about cardiovascular disease and the healthy choices that can help prevent it. The goal is to get rid of the myth that heart disease and strokes only affect "old men". Women join together to gather information about the leading signs and symptoms of heart disease. In addition information can be found about healthy food choices.

The group of volunteers continues to grow.

Go Red For Women Luncheon--Photo Booth {Boise Event Photographer}

This year I once again had the pleasure of volunteering for the American Heart Association at their annual Go Red For Women luncheon. Much like in past years speakers were featured and lunch was served, but this year a photo booth was added on to the event. The photo booth was sponsored by Scentsy, and photographs were taken by Leap Photography.

Everyone who stopped by the photo booth had just made a commitment to actively live a heart healthy lifestyle. Many wonderful ladies stopped by the photo booth and I believe everyone, including myself had a great time.

This past Sunday the Oklepek family and I met at Boise's Kathryn Albertson's Park to capture their family portraits. This time of year the park is one of my favorite places to photograph clients. Sunday was no exception, it was a gorgeous fall day and colors surrounded us at every turn.

It has been some time since this families last family portrait. All family members thought it might be time for an updated wall portrait. This family is always busy and this combined with the fact Kayla will be going off to college next fall prompted the family to capture their images now. I think the timing was perfect! We couldn't have asked for more beautiful natural backdrops!

Miss Jordan {High school Senior}

This past week I met with Jordan and her mom to capture her senior portraits. I had spoke with Jordan's mom on the phone about this session a few times prior to our meeting. Jordan knew she wanted to have her portraits taken in downtown Boise. With this in mind I decided to meet on 8th street and start a leisurely stroll around downtown, taking photos along the way.

It was truly one of Boise beautiful fall days. Everywhere we turned we found another great spot to take shots. In fact we were having such a great time that I think we would have kept on going if the sun hadn't finally set.

Ugo & Alessandra: American wedding {Boise wedding photographer}

I met Ugo and Alessandra for the first time less than 24 hours before their wedding. Both are natives of Italy and had just moved here one month before the wedding day. After arriving in Boise, Ugo decided it was time to ask Alessandra to be his wife. The couple got married right away with just a few of their new friends in attendance. A traditional church wedding will follow next year in Italy with all of their family and friends attending.

Although this couple was not married in Italy you would never have known it just by listening to the various conversations throughout the day. Almost everyone in attendance was Italian or spoke the language.

I've been to many weddings over the years and teared up a bit but I know this is the only wedding I've photographed and shed tears over. Although I don't speak a word of Italian, their devotion for each other is obvious. It is weddings like that remind me, why I love being a wedding photographer.

Congratulations Ugo and Alessandra! I wish you many years of happiness to come.

It hardly seems possible that little Miss Dakota is already 15 months old. It seems like just yesterday I was photographing her as a 2 month old. She is still as adorable as ever and now has smile that will light up a room with a personality to match.

The Harvest Moon dinner is put on by the Capital City Market. This dinner features a farm to table theme featuring products from local farmers and vineyards, many of whom can be found every Saturday selling their goods at the market.

Some of the area's top chefs combine efforts every year to put together a 5 course menu. These chefs do an excellent job of proving it is easy to support your local farmer and live a more sustainable lifestyle. It's also a tasty endeavor.

The Boise area has an abundant variety of available food products ripe for the picking any time of year. I've known Matt and Arwen for about 4 years now. My husband and Matt met each other first at the Boise Co-Op. My husband is a beer connoisseur/collector and Matt is the Boise Co-Op "beer guy".

Over the years, our relationship has moved beyond the Co-Op and I now consider the happy couple as friends.

Last fall Matt finally popped the "big question". Arwen said yes and wedding planning soon followed. They chose the beautiful Sawtooth Winery as their backdrop. Using local products and promoting sustainability was a common theme from the winery and cake to the food and flowers.

Matt and his groomsmen were quite dashing; the bridesmaids were beautiful; but at the end of the day, only the bride can be stunning.

Kurt, Lori, family and friends gathered at Bogus Basin's Pioneer Lodge on Saturday August 13th. The location was fitting since Kurt and Lori first met while working in the Stanley area and both enjoy the outdoors.

The couple included their love of the outdoors into the wedding decor. Hollowed out logs and twigs from the Stanley basin were made into elegant table decorations and the grooms cake was literally shaped and decorated into a realistic sock eye salmon. Firecracker and chocolate brown were the chosen colors of the day.

I met Dana a few years ago when she was a bridesmaid for one of her dearest friends, Belinda. Fast forward two years and now Dana's big day has finally arrived.

Dana and Joe chose the historical Boise Train Depot for both the wedding and reception site. Many Boise residents are quite familiar with this landmark but not all have had the opportunity to enter the doors and witness the grandeur of the amazing space. Large arched windows and doorways adorn the north and south sides of the building allowing light to enter freely and abundantly. The ceiling is supported by large wood beams, intricately painted with art deco details. Original oak benches are scattered throughout the perimeter of the space truly allowing a person to "sit for a spell" and take a look back in time.

I've known Kayla almost the entire time I've lived in Boise. I met her mother years ago and at the time Kayla was only in elementary school . It's hard to believe she is now getting ready to enter her senior year of high school.

We decided to split Kayla's senior portrait session into two days of shooting. Day 1 was spent in the portrait studio getting a few shots that are considered "more traditional". The second day of shooting we spent in the great outdoors. Kayla chose downtown Boise for her backdrop. We wandered through the streets and alleys looking for visual inspiration.

Since I just shot Kaylas outdoor session a few hours ago I've not had time to get images ready for this post. We did get some gorgeous shots of Kayla so keep checking in to future posts to view the highlights from her outdoor session.

Linda + David: married {Boise wedding photographer}

Family and friends gathered in Linda's beautifully landscaped backyard to watch Linda and David tie the knot. Linda has spent most of her life traveling the world and enjoying the adventures that have come her way. So much so that some of her family and friends thought this day might never come.

Linda and David have know each other for a few years but David did not have the courage to ask Linda out until recently. They went on a few dates and the rest is a story in the making.

Congratulations! The two of you make a beautiful couple.

Linda's backyard is absolutely gorgeous!

A little rain wasn't going to stop this wedding!

Ruth over at Cakewalk did a superb job on this cake.

As you can see Linda extended her Japanese theme from the garden to the cake.

In Japan Cranes are a symbol of good fortune and longevity.

Linda has had this Daruma doll since her childhood. In Japan Daruma dolls are a traditional symbol of good luck.

Upon receiving these dolls girls are instructed to fill one eye in with paint/marker. The dolls are then hung upside down until the girl has encountered her first good luck of the year. Once this happens the girl colors in the second eye and displays the doll right side up.

Linda had never filled in the second eye. This is not to say she had never had good luck, she had just been waiting for a special occasion to complete the tradition. Upon her engagement to David she decided to fill in the second eye on her wedding day.

Anna & Tyler: Engaged {Boise engagement Photographer}

I love having the opportunity to photograph engagement portraits for couples, even if I'm not their wedding photographer. It's such an exciting time in one's life and I enjoy capturing those special moments in time for couples to enjoy in their future years together.

I had a wonderful time photographing and getting to know both Anna and Tyler as we walked through Kathryn Albertson park. We actually had to reschedule this session a few times due to weather. The first session was moved back so we could wait for Boise to "green up". The second appointment was scheduled for early May but as luck would have it the rain and wind spoiled our plans. We once again rescheduled the session and ended up picking one of the very few perfect spring days we've had here in Boise within the past few months.

I met Linda for the first time just a few short weeks ago. Upon our initial conversation Linda and David had only been engaged for 3 days. Here excitement over her upcoming nuptials was absolutely intoxicating.

I met her in person by day four of her engagement and was stunned at the amount of progress she had made on her wedding day planning. She already had a wedding date, venue, the caterer, cake, bridesmaids attire and her gown chosen. I think it took me one month just to find my dress! It's obvious that when she puts her mind to something, she doesn't mess around.

The engagement session was scheduled for one week later and I met the couple at Linda's home. She has a beautifully landscaped Japanese garden in her backyard, just perfect for portraits and the upcoming wedding.

Sandra and I met a few years ago at the David's Bridal store here in Boise. At the time she and her fiance Sean were planning on having an Oregon beach wedding. A wedding date had been set and plans were in the works. Unfortunately circumstances were not in their favor. Life sometimes throws unexpected curve balls in our direction and when this happens we are left to adjust our plans.

Recently things were finally looking up and the couple decided to seize their moment. A dress was purchased, a tux rented and flowers were picked out. This time Sandra and Sean decided to keep it simple. The two gathered their close friends and family together and met on the steps of Boise City Hall to exchange vows. Although the ceremony was "short and sweet" it was not lacking in love and affection.

Every year I have the time to attend the Boise flower & garden show I make a point to walk through the orchid exhibit. I'm always enthralled by the beauty of all the different delicate flowers and the beautiful array of colors.

For about 7 years I've been telling myself not to bother trying my hand at orchid growing. Over the years I've had a terrible track record with house plants and it's not really given me much confidence to to truly believe I can keep an orchid alive. Well, this year I decided I was going to give this orchid growing business a try.... how hard can it really be?

After talking with the orchid experts at the garden show we came up with a variety that should in theory, thrive in the lighting and temperature conditions of my house. Today I'm proud to say the orchid I purchased one month ago is still alive, and it's even blooming.

This blog is probably going to offend many male photographers out there, including some of my friends.... Sorry in advance, but all of this is fact.

For a female photographer, the groom and his groomsmen may be a little shy. We catch them being nervous, contemplative, and usually pretty meticulous.

For the most part, the boys are going to be boys. Their work is done; they are not worried about the ceremony or the reception. The boys have fun with friends... either on the links with brews in hand...

.. or sitting back reminiscing about years past with a good cigar.... The boys are always relaxed.

The ladies on the other hand are frequently pretty anxious. Mom, and the soon to be Mother In Law, bridesmaids, cousins, and aunts add to the overall stress level. But this is supposed to be fun; and a female photographer has likely been there herself.

"Oww!" "Owwww!! That hurts!!" "I am soooo pretty!!"

Tons of laughs and you aren't even seeing the champagne bottles.

Any female photographer is more than a person with a camera; we are there to capture these once in a lifetime moments while smoothing emotions. We've seen this 100 times and understand the nerves!! We are girls too!! Once everyone relaxes, the real fun begins.

Women understand how much time goes into getting ready. Hair can take a few hours... Make-up another hour. Women know "pretty" takes time. We know how important each step is.

It is not like these dresses are easy to get into. It is important for the ladies to feel comfortable around their photographer and forget we are even there. We are having fun too!!

In the end, the groom always makes it look easy. He is dashing and nicely tailored.....

.... but only the bride is beautiful.

Catherine and Neils chose the Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Meridian as the backdrop for their wedding ceremony. The ceremony included all the traditional elements of a catholic wedding plus a little added surprise. A bagpipe player.

Following the ceremony guests relocated to the Adelman to join in the evening's festivities which included cocktails, dinner and dancing.

Pre bridal session? What's that? It's a very common questions in today's wedding scene.

Modern trends have led to more and more on location photography and in turn the studio portrait has been somewhat left to the wayside. This is especially true with wedding photography.

So what is a pre bridal session? Well, simply put, a pre bridal session is a portrait session of the bride and groom or even just the bride taken days before if not weeks before the wedding. It's not necessary for the photographs to be taken in a studio setting but traditionally this has been the case.

Although a pre bridal session is not for everyone it does have it's advantages. I believe one of the biggest advantages is the lack of stress associated with the portrait session. You and the photographer have ample amounts of time and you are only dealing with the one task at hand. Creating beautiful portraits. There are no wedding day distractions to contend with.

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing my first pre bridal in quite some time. Jens and Sarah met me in January at the Wedding Party Show and asked if I ever photographed studio bridals. Although they already had a photographer lined up for their big day, this couple needed to find a photographer with access to a studio. I gladly accepted their request and set aside a few hours to spend with them just two days prior to their wedding.

Justin and Gabby's wedding is just around the corner. After a few failed attempts due to weather we finally braved the elements to get this session done before the wedding day, April 2nd. I'm not exactly sure, but I think the temperature was about 25 degrees. It was so cold that besides one gentleman walking his dog, we were the only people in Kathryn Albertson Park. As some of you know this is quite the rarity for a Saturday in Boise.

Wedding clients from a few years ago approached me recently and asked if I'd be willing to photograph their daughter. Of course I replied yes.

Little Miss Laura is 15 months old and full of energy. At the time of this shoot Laura was just days, if not hours away from walking on her own. She does have her "scoot" perfected and let me tell you, it's quick. She's certainly a burst of energy, but such an affectionate cutey at the same time. She loves her mommy and daddy tons! So much in fact, it was difficult getting her to sit by herself for a portrait, she just wanted hugs.

2011 Wedding Party Show / Boise Wedding Photographer

This past weekend I once again participated in The Wedding Party Show. I had a great time as usual and visited with many happy couples. Both Saturday and Sunday were extremely busy. I'm told we had over 1000 brides come through the doors through out the course of the weekend. The largest attendance our show has had in 32 years.

I have to give a big thanks out to two people. First, my husband for helping me set up and tear down the show. Without his help every year my little space in the show just wouldn't be what it is. Second a big thanks to my friend Miranda who came down to the show once again to help me out. She spent two long days working by my side talking to anyone who came through the booth. Thanks so much guys! I could not have done this without your help.

I can't believe it. Another year has come and gone and it is once again almost time for the annual Wedding Party Show. Every year the show gets bigger and better and I have to admit I'm just as excited about this show as I was my very first solo show 3 years ago. I love my job and couldn't have asked for anything more.

Big thanks go out to my mom and sister. Mom, thanks for all those years of gentle encouragement. Without your gentle nudges I may not have ended up pursuing photography as much as I did. Becky, you were always a wonderful model when I needed someone to practice on. You were always so obliging to pose in any way I liked. Without the two of you, I wouldn't be who I am today.

Home for the Holidays! / Montana portrait photographer

My husband and I always have a difficult time working out vacation time together. He works in TV news Monday - Friday and I work a lot of evenings and weekends. Our schedules and slow seasons don't ever seem to coincide but once a year we always seem to find a few days to get away. Recently he actually got a number of days off in a row and we decided to plan a trip to Montana. We could visit my parents as well as see my brother and sister.

Since Montana weather is so unpredictable, I had decided not to mention our potential plans to my parents. I didn't want to get their hopes up and then crush them if the weather turned bad. The only person in the family who knew of our intentions was my brother. After one canceled trip we weren't even sure the trip would be possible. At this point we decided if we did get the chance to drive up the following weekend we should surprise my parents. It would be an early and very unexpected Christmas gift.

The following weekend came, the weather was good and we set out on our 12+ hour journey to my hometown. I drove like the wind, which is not unusual for me at all.......I grew up during the days when the speed limit in Montana was "reasonable and prudent". The plan my brother and I had worked out was this. He would show up at my parents house about 30 minutes before I was to pull into town. He needed to keep them from going to bed and then my husband and I would ring the doorbell.

At 9:50 I rang the doorbell, heard a little commotion in the house and then my Dad opened the door. "SURPRISE!" His look was of shear confusion but happiness all rolled into one. Mom after realizing it was us and not a high school prankster was almost jumping for joy.

In the end the surprise was a success and it was so wonderful seeing all of my family once again.

Apple Pie Filling / Boise Photographer

Winter always slows down a bit in the portrait business and that leaves me with a little time on my hands to take care of projects around the house. This year I canned apple pie filling for the very fist time. If I hadn't been give a large bag of apples a few weeks ago I probably would not have gone out of my way to do so. I didn't want to see the apples go to waste so I got on the internet and started searching for recipes. After a little looking I came across a recipe that is quit tasty.

Canned Apple Pie filling with vanilla and buttershots

Ingredients:

- 4 cups sugar

- 1 cup cornstarch

-1 tbs. cinaman

- 1 or 2 vanilla beans (split & scraped)

- 9 cups water

- 1 cup Butterscotch Snapps

- 1/4 cup bottled lemon juice

- 1 tsp. lemon zest

- 9 lbs. apples (peeled, cored & sliced)

Optional Ingredients

- 3 cloves

- 1/2 tsp. cardamon

- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg

Directions

1) Peel, core & slice the apples.

Next year I'm buying one of those contraptions that cores & peels the apple at the same time (like the one pictured below).

Using the hand peeler was so teadus. I'll never do it this way again.

I like to place apples either the sink or a large container full of water & fruit fresh. This should be done immmediatly after slicing to keep the apples from browning.

2) In large pot place first 5 ingredients and optional spices.

Tip:

When using Vanilla bean you have to scrape the inside of the vanilla bean.

Don't add the entire vanilla bean.

3) Bring to a boil and cook until thick and bubbly.

Stir from time to time, making sure the mixture does not stick to the bottom of the pot.

Once the mixture is thick and bubbly remove from heat. Add lemon juice, lemon zest and butterscotch schnapps.

4) Sanitize canning jars.

I don't have a dishwasher so I have to place the jars in boiling water for about 10 minutes.

5) Pack Jars with apples and top with liquid mixture.

Make sure to leave about 1/2" to 1" head space at the top of the jar.

6) Process jars in hot water bath for 25 minutes.

7) Remove from water bath and let cool.

You now have lots of apple pie filling at your fingertips. At a moments notice you have prepared apples ready for use in pies, as an ice cream topping or any other baked good you can think of.

Boise's Best CHILE VERDE

Just in time for the fall football season and cool winter weather this Green Chile recipe is fantastic. This blog was actually inspired by my husband. I'm a lucky gal. He likes to cook and he's really good at it.

He came up with this particular recipe on his own and it's quite tasty. This recipe makes a large batch and I promise you all "meat eating" men will be in love with all the "porky goodness".

This stew is a mash-up of the America's Test Kitchen recipe for White Bean Chicken Chile and Rick Bayless' recipe for Chile Verde.... And of course, my husband takes every chance he can to add as much pork to every bite (see the bacon and ham stock later on :-)

Ingredients:

- 4 lb. pork stew meat

- 1.5 lb. ground pork sirlion

- 7 slices bacon

-Ham stock (this is found in a concentrate form called Better Than Bouillon)

- 5 poblano chilis

- 5 anaheim chilis

- 4 jalapeno (1 reserved)

- 7 or 8 tomatillos

- 2 large onions

- 3 stalks celery

- 1 carrot

- 5 heads roasted garlic

- 1 bunch cilantro (1/2 reserved)

green onions/scallions for garnish

Directions:

- Brown meat in small batches and set aside.

-While browning stew meat and ground pork, cook the bacon... We use a broiler pan on low heat (about 280) so the fat renders and drains away as much as possible. When the bacon is very crisp, put it off to the side.

-Roast the garlic at the same time as the bacon... When it is soft, squish it out of the cloves and put it in a bowl.

- While the meat is browning, rough chop chilies, tomatillos, onion, celery and carrot.

Remember to seed and devein the chiles, that is where the heat can get to be too much.

A feast for any guys eyes.....pork, and lots of it.

-Saute all your chiles and veggies until browned. Season with salt and fresh pepper as you go, it really does make a difference.

Once complete, deglaze the pan with a bit of ham stock and place the veggies into the blender pitcher. Do not blend yet.

Add the browned stew meat to just enough ham stock, the level of liquid should not quite cover all the pork. Just as shown in the photo below.

So now it's time to dig out the blender. I swear you can use it for more than just making a mean margarita or a milkshake!

- Blend bacon and veggies (including the roasted garlic) into a thick liquid.

-Add the veggies to the pork and ham stock and simmer for a couple of hours... until the pork pieces are very tender. Take off the lid and simmer until thickened to the point where you like.

-About 10 minutes before serving, add the reserved jalapeno (finely diced) and half the chopped cilantro.

Garnish with the rest of the cilantro and chopped scallions.. Sorry, I missed the garnish photo.. I was hungry; anytime Toby cooks, you can count on at least an extra hour than he estimates.

Just a few short weeks ago Zach, his mother and I spent a few hours walking through Kathryn Alberton's park. We lucked out, we finally had a nice fall day to take Zach's photos. Zach's mom and I had been trying to get Zach's senior session snuck in before the leaves dropped and the cold weather rolled in, unfortunately we had been having a little bad luck along the way. Sessions had been scheduled twice prior and each time we had been rained out. Cat's and dogs rained out.

Let's Erase the Stigma / Boise & Eagle photographer

I recently had the pleasure of spending a little time with a great group of Eagle High Students. All had volunteered to model t-shirts for a new and upcoming non profit called Let's Erase the Stigma/L.E.T.S.

The mission of L.E.T.S. is to erase the stigma associated with mental illness. They start in high schools by getting students together to form a new kind of club, one that helps change the perception of mental illness. The hope is that by helping everyone overcome the stigma's associated with a mental illness those who are afflicted will seek treatment without the worries of what others might think.

Sam and Jessica's wedding day left us all on our toes. Weather forecasts were calling for heavy rain to start sometime in the late afternoon but all day we kept seeing a little rain here and a little rain there. The unpredictable weather kept Sam and Jessica in a constant state of confusion on if their ceremony should be held indoors or out. In the end they decided to play it safe and hold the ceremony indoors.

It did end up raining but that's OK because as we all know....rain is good luck on your wedding day.

This garter was Jessica's something old, borrowed and blue.

Go Red For Women: 2010 Survivors / Boise portrait photographer

This year the annual Go Red For Women Luncheon will be held on October 15, 2010. This event is just one of many fundraisers held throughout the year to help support the local chapter of the American Heart Association. The luncheon's focus is on promoting the benefits of healthy habits and educating women on how to make heart healthy choices as well as how to detect the early warning signs of heart disease.

Every year a group of women or survivors are selected as speakers for the luncheon. All of these women have survived a battle with some form of heart disease. I photographed all of this years survivors and I promise you each and every one of their stories is inspiring. Heart disease affects women of all ages and this year's selection of survivors is no exception. I encourage each and every one of my readers to attend the luncheon just to hear what these ladies have to say. I promise, you'll walk away from this luncheon not only inspired but you'll have a whole new outlook on heart disease.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of spending a few hours on a ranch in Sweet, Idaho. When Kayla told me she would like to have her senior photos taken on her family farm I started to get more than a little excited. It's been quite some time since I moved off of my family's ranch and away from Montana and I rarely have an opportunity to take portraits in this type of setting. I had been looking forward to a shoot outside of the Boise City limits and when I arrived at her family place I new we were going to end up with a lot of great shots.

Every farm I've every visited has had at least a few cats running around the barnyard and this farm was no exception. This Siamese mix named Mia, followed us all around the ranch as we took photos. Miss Hillary had just turned 4 years old the day before her photo shoot. She's a little shy until she get's to know you but once she does this sweat heart will tell you secrets that even Mom didn't know about, like her new boyfriend.

This 4 year old already has her own sense of style plus she absolutely loves the color pink. Hillary chose all the clothing for her birthday session which is quite an impressive feat for a girl her age. My favorite outfit was her hot pink tutu. Every girls got to have one and Hillary is just so cute in hers.

Tom & Nicolle / Boise Wedding Photographer

Nicolle and I first met two years ago when her sister was getting married. She was an attentive maid of honor at the time but since has found the love of her life. Tom is not only a perfect match for Nicolle but seems to blend seamlessly with Nicolle's family. It's almost as if they have all known each other for years.

Upon arrival to the venue it was obvious that Nicolle had spent many a sleepless night preparing & planning for this day. Colorful details were incorporated into every aspect of the wedding and the color scheme of black, yellow and white was simple yet dramatic.

UGGG..... I still have tomatoes coming out of my ears. I know, I know; this is what I get for planting so many tomato plants. I've been canning about once a week for the past month, just trying to keep up with my little crop. I just keep telling myself I'll feel much differently about all the canned goodies when winter rolls around.

I've been doing my best to mix up the products I've been canning so I have a little variety this winter. As I mentioned a few weeks ago I started with salsa. I've since moved on to tomato soup and marinara. If anyone else has some great tomato ideas I'd love for you to let me know. Honestly I'm running out of ideas besides just canning diced tomatoes. That's kind of boring and I'm hoping for a spark of inspiration.

Little Sophia is only 3 1/2 weeks old and oh so cute!

This little bundle of joy is the first grandchild to both sides of the family and she's been spoiled with love from day one. Although we had a rough time getting this one to be comfortable on her own we finally got her to relax and take a nap.

Kimberly and Brett are such a beautiful young couple and look so perfect together. Sophia creates the perfect family. I wish we could have gotten photos of all 3 together; I guess we'll have to wait until Sophia is a little older.... and I can't wait!!
